I'm sure we've all talked the Scotland game to death but on some of the other games...

Just what will Boudie being saying to Joe on Thursday at 7s as he never misses a chance to diss France? Surely Domenech can't last much longer.

How often will Italy score last minute winners in qualifiers?

I'm not even meaning the one at Hampden, I'm sure they did it in two other seperate games in our last group (Ukraine and one of the lesser teams)

I was looking at the Norway result and thinking it's good for us that both teams dropped points. Taking a second think about it though shows that we're very likely to struggle on Wednesday now though (as if it wasn't hard enough in the first place)

Iceland were away from home to Norway too. We must get three points or it could be all over before we've even got going. I reckon we'll be lucky to get a draw...

Quite a few interesting results - especially Romania getting pumped at home to Lithuania.

I missed the Scotland game, and much of the build up passed me by, but I did feel we'd get beat. On the day McLeish betrayed us, I said "I hope we get George Burley", but since then I've had bad vibes. I don't like all these Championship players getting plucked out with tenuous family links to Scotland and getting caps, it reminds me of the Vogts reign. And I don't think they bring much better than some of the young players from the SPL.

I didn't think at the time that Burley was a good choice.

Southampton fans were happy to be getting compesantion for him leaving. They were getting to the stage where they'd have been calling for his head not long after.

He's still living off the back of these 8 games he had in charge of Hearts where Rangers were in total turmoil and he'd managed a few wins very early in the season.

I still think Souness was the best man for the job.

However, the most worrying thing is that outwith Ferguson and Hutton, while admittedly very strong players, that was basically out first choice team.

No matter who the manager is, the performance should have been better from those players. They let us down on that side.

He's got a problem now though. There's no way that central defencsive pairing should be first choice. I dunno if Weir is still his pick if fit beside McManus but having seen how bad the Celtic pair were the previous weekend, it was mental to go with them.

Berra would be a much better, I'm sure

Same goes for Hartley in the middle. He should never have started given his form but that's maybe excusable given Thomson and Ferguson both being injured.

Alexander shouldn't ever play for us again. He's well past it and given his good form at the moment (and I never thought I'd be saying this) Broadfoot's a better option in Hutton's absence.

Burley's problem now is that if he makes whosale changes and doesn't win on Wednesday he'll get crucified.

I'd imagine he'll stick with much the same team but given what we've seen, that's not going to do the job.

I'm very surprised Iceland got a draw in Norway. We've got a major task on our hands.

To me, bringing on Maloney and Boyd so late in the game was utter madness.

Bringing off Barry Robson, the most composed and threatening midfielder, was also baffling.

Like Keith said, the build up to the game was so unmemorable and underwhelming.

It felt like a very meaningless game of football.

And the players didn't exactly respond to the occasion either.

To me it was like watching Celtic at Falkirk or Kilmarnock.

And with Caldwell and McManus at the heart of the defence, even more disturbing viewing.

It alarms me that someone like Stephen McManus can captain a rather big professional football club, as well as a major country.
