Celtic predictions..So.. first off.. great result for celtic.. no doubt about it, scottish football is definitely on a high at the moment, both at international, and european level, tonights result rounds off a great few weeks, and hopefully the national team can carry on the good run.
HOWEVER.. might as well start the topic on the fan running on the park..
What's everyone's view on it? I saw a replay of the incident on sky sports, and it looked to be Dida giving a 'Rivaldo' performance in the play acting.. but a fan ran on the park, and hit a player, admittedly minimal contact, but contact was made none the less, and I think that's what Uefa will look at, rather than the play acting from Dida.
So what's everyone's predictions for punishment? I don't think Uefa will take points off celtic, but I can see them being either heavily fined (in the range of hundreds of thousands).. and/or made play a game or two away from parkhead, or behind closed doors.
I don't really know what to make of it. Celtic by rights should be hammered for letting a fan come on the park and make contact with a player.. but at the same time.. Dida was shocking in his play acting. That doesn't excuse the fan though...
Either way, a very poor showing from the Celtic support.

We have some serious clownheid's in our support at places like Pittodrie and Tannadice etc, so it doesn't suprise me in the slightest.
One Guy (Juan Ghuy Indeed) has potentially fucked us over.
UEFA Won't bother that minimal contact was made. The fact that he got on the pitch was bad enough. The fact that he went to noise up Dida but physically obstructing him was scandalous.
A Wanker of a man who I hope is found and given a severe kicking.
I can see either a big fine or even expulsion from the competition.
Inter Milan were given a ban and the Closed Door patter when a flare hit Dida in a game two years ago in the CL.
Milan were awarded a 5-0 win and guaranteed entry to the Semi Finals against PSV.
Wouldn't suprise me to see them making a big case about this tonight, knowing how Italian teams make mountains out of Molehills when things don't go their way.
That aside, a good win against the CL Holders on a night for scrappy football in terrible conditions.
Great to see Naylor back to form and good performances from Brown, Jarosik, Donati and McDonald.
I think Scott McDonalds turning out to be a right decent signing as well.
Didn't look out of place at all at that level and was one of the better performers against Shakthar 2 weeks ago as well.
Hard to enjoy the win though after that tit's antics tonight.

I don't think it'll be as harsh as the inter punishment.... it depends on how uefa look at it. I think you're right though, Dida's reaction won't be taken into consideration I'm sure, it'll jsut be focused on the fan, and what he did.
A large fine I'm sure.. it would be a proper kick in the nuts if points get deducted, or the result is changed. The 'fan' in question will never be able to show his face if someone recognises him.

I'm sure Uefa will issue nothing more than a £15,000 fine for them.
Dida should get a two game ban too though just like Juninho should from Tuesday.
Celtic will eventually be hit harder given that that corner of their stadium has constantly been involved in incidents since 98 ish. The stewarding in that section of the ground is a disgrace.

I think the fine will run in to the hundreds of thousands.. from what I can gather, they will get the reports from the officials on Friday, and take it from there.. not too sure how quick eufa are at getting their finger out on these sort of things though.
What corner are you talking about.. The one closest to the camera?? Or the one furthest away from the camera??.. If it's the one furthest away from the camera, then to be fair, with the amount of people that surged forwards, it was always going to be difficult to contain. The guy that ran on right enough, came from the other corner as far as I can see, and you're right, they should be able to contain the one person.
It's a shame that there is no way to directly punish the supporters in question, rather than the club.. it doesn't seem particularly fair to me to punish the club for the behaviour of their supporters involved, unless the behaviour is sparked by provocative behaviour from one of the players. More so when it's an oposition fan that runs on.

While I loathe Stewards and think , generally, they are cunts, can you back this up ?
Not meaning to sound cheeky btw. Genuinley asking !!
May 1999 - Dallasgate. We all remember that.
Since then, I can't mind any major incident until last night ?
Not Timmy Selective Memory here.
Honest Question - What other incidents where there ?

I mind the Ricksen Incident too, but that was in the opposite end.....

Every time a goal is scored in a big game at that end of the ground there's a mass of fans on the area past the advertising boards.
The Ricksen lighter incident was at the other end of the stadium IIRC.
Look out for goals getting scored down there, the fans are always overcrowding the area. I dunno if it's the way it's laid out and there's more space for people to get forward.
Your manager and Ally Maxwell were both attacked from that end of the ground but that was pre-reconstruction ;)
Seriously though, it's far more prevelant at that area than any other of the stadium.

What an arse is all I can say. I fully expect UEFA to come down hard.

Never noticed myself Rosscinho.
I will say though.
November 1996.
A Fox ran on the pitch.
An offence which went unpunished.
I bet he's singing Secterian songs in the back of the North Stand Upper

He was an Orange fox so there's no doubting the sectarian ways of his wiley nature.
It was more unpunished than Brian O'Neill that night certainly. Falling over on your arse around a Laudrup on a football field usually ends in tragedy
