It's the age old adage that if we're not good enough to beat a team with that co-efficient, we're nowhere near good enough to even be thinking about the CL.
It could have been alot worse. I'd expect Kaunus to get through the tie. Possibly a slight bonus with it being Romanov's team as we'll be slightly less likely to be thinking that "we'll just brush off some backwater European team" coz we've never heard of them.
The very least Rangers fans will be hoping for is a very good result at Ibrox in the first leg which should allow for a slightly easier second leg game.
We, from a money point of view, just cannot afford to go out at this stage as there's no Uefa parachute till the 3rd round.
Missing out on the CL from the 3rd round qualifying would be bad enough. Going out at this stage doesn't bare thinking about.

Had no idea this was on today.
There are only a handful of teams I've have liked to avoided, and for all I know they may have been in the same seeding bracket as Rangers if it worked that way.

Rangers could only have got the teams from the right hand column in the 2nd round from this link.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedcl2007.html
Kaunus, based purely on co-efficients, is a favourable draw.
That list is made assuming all the higher ranked teams get through from the first round ie Kaunus beating Zeta from the 1st round draw that was also done today.
Here's the teams that Rangers, should they get through to the 3rd qualifying round, can get (assuming all top seeds come through from the 2nd round)
Sparta Praha Cze 37.851
Fenerbahçe Tur 36.791
AEK Athens Gre 36.415
Dinamo Bucuresti Rom 34.255
Slavia Praha ** Cze 32.851
Rosenborg BK ** Nor 31.509
Spartak Moscow Rus 27.920
Red Star Belgrade ** Srb 19.256
FC København ** Den 19.129
Toulouse FC Fra 17.706
Dinamo Zagreb * Cro 17.533
Racing Genk ** Bel 15.594
DVSC Debrecen ** Hun 11.675
FC Zürich Sui 9.869
FC Salzburg ** Aut 9.104
APOEL Nicosia * Cyp 6.492
The star(s) besides teams names indicate that they've come through from a previous round. ie APOEL have come from the first round.
I really don't fancy Rangers chances against ANY of those teams.
