Detectives said the investigation was separate to Lord Stevens' ongoing Quest inquiry into the Premiership.

The game of chinese whispers is alive and well.

Rangers (and apparently Newcastle too now) have told that they weren't so much raided as asked to co-operate with a police investigation.

There's a fair chance that the three clubs involved are merely being asked to provide information to police to aide their inquiries.

I'd bet that another party (Willie McKay?) is part of the problem.
