Its kind of a myth that your picking a full person up with a finger behind the knee and under the armpits.
Its does work obviously but its all about the person sitting down and letting there weight distribute all over there body. When you pick them up you fingers are lifting the areas where the weight has been taken away from. You wont see anyone actually holding the person up for more than a few seconds as the weight then starts to redistribute again.
It is quite cool though but not as voodoo like as you think.......
