So.. same question as yesterday...Celtic.. aye or naw? (to qualify?)
I'm an aye.

I think they'll do it too. Home advantage should see them through. I've still not seen the first game so have no idea how good/bad Spartak were.
Much like last night, I reckon it'll be very tight but they'll go through.
Possible 0-0 again?

Very difficult one this.
I'll say, yes. Just.

Well predicted boys.
What a fantastic game of football.
Not good for the heart at all right enough, but one of the best matches I've been fortunate enough to witness first hand in quite some time. It had absolutely everything. Two teams going like fuck for it. Was like Rocky 4. Rocky V Drago n aw that !!
As I said earlier on another forum, I may have my issues with Strachan, but I suppose I need to say fair play to him for converting our midfield from a Skoda to a Lexus. Incredible to see the difference without Lennon. If only we'd got rid of him in 2005......
Looking forward to the draw , happy to be there and pretty proud of the way we set aboot our stuff tonight.
Back to actually playing football !!

Oh and for the record - I didnae watch ANY of the penalties.
Went straight to the bogs !!
Never seen us ever win a game of penalties.
No suprise we did when my cursed image went away from the general F.O.P

Aye, nothing like doing it the hard way.
Cracking game to watch, had just about everything. Thought Boric or Naylor should have been sent off for their wee set to.. as you cannae go raising your hands... no matter who it's to.
Good performance though.
I've a feeling it's going to be a tough draw for both teams.. can't really be avoided given the pots they are in.

Was a good game indeed Stan. It had everything as you say.
Obviously from a Rangers point of view, I'm dissapointed Celtic got through in the end. We could have done wit the extra £2.5m from the TV money.
I'll be keeping tabs on the Spartak right winger. The pace of that boy!
Pot 1
AC Milan
FC Barcelona
Liverpool
Internazionale
Arsenal
Real Madrid
Chelsea
Manchester United
Pot 2
Valencia
Olympique Lyon
FC Porto
Sevilla OR AEK Athens
PSV Eindhoven
AS Roma
Benfica
Werder Bremen
Pot 3
Celtic
Schalke 04
VfB Stuttgart
Steaua Bucuresti
CSKA Moskva
Sporting CP Lisbon
Lazio Roma
Olympique Marseille
Pot 4
Rangers
Shakhtar Donetsk
Beşiktaş
Olympiakos Piraeus
Dinamo Kyiv
Fenerbahçe
Slavia Praha
Rosenborg
Certainly there's gonna be two glamour games in Scotland. Pot 1 is amazing.
I'd be happier with Benfica, PSV or Porto from the second group than any of the others.
Think you've got to hope that the Pot 1 team walks away with it and the rest are fighting it out.
Rangers being in Pot 4 isn't a huge disadvantage this season. It's the strongest I've ever seen the competition. Normally their seeding score would be enough to place them well into Pot 3.
It'll be interesting come 5pm anyway.
See they're announcing the new CL system for next season too. Second place in the SPL won't get a CL spot now. It's the Scottish Cup winners.
If the SC winners are also the league winners though, the place goes to 2nd in the SPL.

I like what you did there.
Obviously pot 4 doesn't contain the stronger teams out of the competition, but I don't think I've ever seen it contain trickier fixtures.
Glamour ties indeed in pot 1. A 50/50 chance of landing in the same group as an english team. I hope Rangers didn't make Chelsea mad in the summer, we don't have Sebo to bail us out any more.
Either team will have done very well to progress out of this

Is Sebo gone? Aw for fucks sake! Thats a disaster for Celtic.
Although I am sure a lot fo Celtic fans would like to get Seville for old times sake and a' that I really wnat to avoid them. Porto or Benfica would be fine and would be good to avoid Fenerbace from Pot 4.
Bring on Real Madrid too!

Oh aye! Good to see an Irish club get to the group stages for the first time ever!

Might as well weigh in with my prediction before the draw starts..
Inter
PSV Eindhoven
Celtic
Besiktas
And
Barcelona
Sevilla or AEK Athens
Steaua Bucharest
Rangers
Absolutely at random..

Stan

Just realised that barca can't go with sevilla.. ach well. .that fucks that one.
Group G so far (2 teams drawn) is spot on for Celtic's group but!
|
Stan
|
Well that's Rangers fucked then...
Spanish, German and french champions in the one group?
To be honest, I think they will be luck to get the eufa spot.
Celtic, on the other hand, have a chance of AT LEAST a uefa cup spot. As always with them though, it'll come to how they do away from home.
I think a realistic target is to get both teams to third place. Anything more is a bonus.

How are Rangers fucked ?
I reckon there's a right good chance they can go through in that group.
You'd be suprised but Lyon are not anywhere near as strong as they used to be. Still a right good outfit by all means, but Rangers can take them at home. Same with Stuttgart. Although their striker Gomez is one of the best in Europe at the moment and they have a right tactically astute manager. Can't mind his name.
Barcelona at home as well.
They struggled against you lot so.........
|
Stan
|
I'd love to be proved wrong, but I still think they are knackered.
Lyon may not be the team they were, but they are still better than the team rangers are (I think).. Barcelona I think you can write off, and hope they romp the group, and stuttgart, fair enough, maybe at home, and at best a draw at home.
As I said.. 3rd would be a good placing for rangers I think.
Celtic certainly have the better draw (just).. tough regardless though.
As ross pointed out, this year is as strong as the competition has ever been. I'm just pleased to have two scottish teams in the mix, it'll help our over all co-efficient, which is what it's all about for teams like United, the less qualifiers we have to go through if/when we get a shot at it, the better.
|
Stan
|
PS.. that's a b'stard draw for Aberdeen in the uefa.. Dnipro (sp).. that's the team that ripped hibs a new one a couple of seasons ago. That said.. could have been worse.. alot worse.
|
Cappo

Could have been Bayerm right enough.
That'll be Scotland's co-efficient taking another battering then.
