Hi there guys, good job with your site, looks great!
Anyway, I received a PM from Cappo on Alternative Nation where i was trying to set up an Inter Forum freindly with them, hence why I am here.
Il keep this simple as i could waffle into details all night.
My name is Jamie and I am helping set up some freindlies/charity matchs against forums based in the Glasgow area.
I am involved in a succesfull Rangers website/forum, and we are starting up a football team. We have arranging a few friendlies with other Rangers forums (i.e. followfollow), strathycruise, Celtic forums, and Alt Nation.
Since we have such a great feedback in the past few days, we are considering setting up a Inter Forum League:
http://212.67.202.137/~badger/football/index.php
Which will later on this evening become:
http://www.theforumleague.co.uk
My intentions are simple:
1) Would you like to set up a freindly match with our forum? Our website is http://www.rangersmedia.com and http://www.rangersmediaforum.com
(admin, feel free to edit this out if deemed unacceptable)
2) If this is successful, and considering we could have potentially a high single figure number of other Glasgow based forums, would you like to particapte in a league?
We wouldnt expect you to play every Sunday, or Wednesday or what. Just the games would be played within a 2 week period.
This isnt a money mkaing scheme, as all we would require money for is cost of the pitch and the ref.
Thanks for showing any interest in our project. :smt001 |

Posting links to your forum mate is absolutely fine on this forum, we're all for promoting traffic between sites.
I'll let cappo etc etc get back to you on your other suggestions. _________________ Stan wiped finger on Mo's face.

So you'll be smadaj then? :smt002
I think we'd be quite interested in the league idea but I'd have to get all the boys that organise the team togheter and see for sure.
As I was saying to you on the AN board, the league we were involved in started really well and then a couple of teams dropped out and since around August time, it's pretty much fallen away all together.
The guy organising our league had the same idea as yourself basically with a two week period to organise and play a fixture rather than tying anyone down to a specific date. That still proved to be a problem a times though with teams who aren't brilliantly organised, struggling to get parks or arrange enough bodies for whatever night the teams had agreed on.
This leads to other problems with ringers. I think it's a cracking idea that you're thinking of having a registered squad to avoid this. Our only problem would be that through injury and other varying reasons, we've not had a settled keeper this year. We've used about five. None of the are particularly better than the others so it's not what you'd call ringers but I don't know how that would sit with the registered names we'd supply........it's just a thought.
I'm sure we'd be up for a friendly before it all kicked off though as we're always looking for games.
Have you got many lined up so far? What dates are you available? We're free for most Sunday's after the 15th of October till the end of November.
Have you played FollowFollow yet? If you're around their level, we're probably pretty evenly matched. We played Forest Amateurs (got beat 2-1) and they'd drawn with FF the week before.
What's the deal with the money situation? Would you want money upfront to be booking parks and refs or would you just let the teams playing sort out a time and date and book the pitch and split the costs?
I'll be talking to the rest of the boys in to see what they think but let us know if you want a friendly. If nothing else, it's a few more contacts for teams wanting to play a few friendlies with each other in the mean time.
Cheers |

Interesting prospect, certainly worth talking about more.
The only thing that might put me off is the experience we've had this year with the league, and that is really just down to organisation. As cappo says we'll have to talk about it amongst ourselves.
In the meantime, feel free to keep us informed of things as they progress.
A friendly is a good idea too.
Great stats on the rangersmedia site by the way, for the first time since the dynamo site was launched, I've got stat envy. :smt013 |

Hi Jadams. :smt006
Absolutely not much I can add here as Cappo and Bob seem to have covered everythin' here.
I'd definetely consider this though and I'm more up for it than not.

We have the idea of letting the teams organise amongst themselves. money would not be paid upfront, as it all is needed to be paid is the pitch and referee. Most, if not all, referee's at local level are paid in cash, on the day.
Since we are not in this profit, no extra fee's are paid

We would want a freindly also. As i said, the league wouldnt be set up for another couple of months. We are still newbies to this game (the game of arranging an internet forum league! Not football! ;) ) so we are still progressing which is great.
www.theforumleague.co.uk is the domain name now. Its still in primary stage.
Thanks for the reply!
Il be on in the near future to check the replies. |

We have a few guys that are doing a lot of work, spending their money, on this project. I am not the only one, my job was to batter my way around Glasgow based forums, and check for any interested parties!
So we are progressing well, and will keep you to date with events. As i said in my previous post, the league probably wont be set up this year. Which gives us a couple of months. This time gives us, the oppurtunity to speak to people about how they operated similiar projects and right their wrongs.
And yes, we will get a freindly set up with TFC Dynamo. The average age of our team is approximatly 19/20.
So we are filled with youthful inexperiance, and a burning ambition!
And thanks for complementing Rangers Media! We are still building ourselfs up, and hopefully take over Followfollow as the number 1 forum for Rangers within the next year or so.
Thanks :smt004 |

We've got a game lined up on the first weekend of December and the week after that is the Christmas Night out and the following week is Rangers v Celtic so we've decided to make our last game of the year the first week in December.
Will we pencil you in for the 29th of October then? Would that suit you?
I'm sure a couple of us would make it to watch one of your games before then.
Fancy dropping me a PM of where you're playing these games and KO times? I'll probably pop along for a peek.......... |
